Product InformationSolid Oak Contemporary External Door
A modern design with a traditional twist, these contemporary solid oak external doors are made to a very high standard and beautifully finished. Traditional methods of construction combined with high quality solid oak make the Contemporary External Door a popular design choice that is built to last.
The middle oak panel is fully floating in the frame to ensure that these external oak doors will last a lifetime and more. Mortise and Tenon joints are used in all corners.
The true beauty of solid oak really shines on this series. They are supplied sanded but unfinished so you can choose what finish to use that will best suit and match the particular style of your home. We also supply an Oak Weatherbar to match the door, which will be required should the door be "open to the elements".
The glazing set in the Contemporary oak door really changes the look of the external door bringing in lots of daylight to your entrance hall. Glazing is not supplied and will need to be fitted on site, approximate size for the glazing is 1621x140mm. (This is an approximate measurement only based on the visible pane and we suggest you use this as a guide for quotation purposes only and to wait until the door has arrived with you before committing to ordering your glazing.)
Mix the Contemporary External Oak Doors with the Contemporary Internal Doors to give your house an amazing contemporary feel throughout.
These doors are identical front and back but in mirror form giving you the option to hang the doors with the glazing on the left or right.
Our range of external doors are made from solid oak, however we do not recommend usage in exposed areas i.e. direct rain or hot sun, therefore we recommend use in sheltered areas with a porch or canopy
Please follow these treatment and maintenance instructions to preserve the beauty and strength of the wood.
External Doors are supplied unfinished. You will need to use a treatment suitable for external doors; we recommend the Impranol range for External doors; Click here For Impranol
We also supply an Oak Weatherbar to match the door, which will be required should the door be "open to the elements". Sold separately as not everyone will need one...ie if your door is situated within an enclosed porch. Click Here For Oak Weatherbars.
Our external doors must be treated before being hung, retreated every six months and kept dry at all times through the use of a canopy or similar. For full guidelines, please visit our External Door Protection Page.
Glazing not included.
Wooden Product Finishing
Our products are supplied fit for purpose and unfinished (unless a pre finished / treated door has been ordered). As oak is a natural product, sanding, polishing and colouring maybe required to achieve the perfect finish. If you have not ordered a pre-finished/treated door then we recommend that quality hardwax oils such as Treatex or Osmo Oils are used to seal and protect the goods and to validate your warranty. All of our doors must be treated before they are hung, not afterwards. It is vitally important not to miss areas where the door has been cut for hinges or any other door furniture as this would allow for moisture to get into the door and spread throughout it.
Modern oil finishes are extremely durable and hardwearing, they are very simple to apply and fast drying. Once your appropriate finish has been applied, generally very little maintenance is required. It is always advisable to cover any scratches that may occur over time. The benefit of using hardwax oil is that this is a very simple process of re-applying the finish to the affected area with a cloth.
External Wooden Product Finishing
Our products are supplied fit for purpose and unfinished. As oak is a natural product, sanding, polishing and colouring maybe required to achieve the perfect finish. We recommend that quality specialist external treatment such as Impranol Oils are used to seal and protect the goods and that our external doors are protected from direct sunlight and rain by either a canopy or porch. All of our doors must be treated before they are hung, not afterwards. It is vitally important not to miss areas where the door has been cut for hinges or any other door furniture as this would allow for moisture to get into the door and spread throughout it. Please follow the guide here for finishing your external door, not doing this will void your warranty. By doing so you will also comply with our terms and conditions.

Storage - Flat and Dry Only
As wood is a natural product it is important that it is stored correctly. We recommend that your new products are stored flat and in a dry area. We recommend that all packaging is kept on the products, or removed for inspection and then re applied for storage. Again as wood is a natural product it is susceptible to changes in each room's atmosphere and as such please be mindful of this and take care to avoid damp areas or newly plastered rooms etc.
This door must be fitted with a minimum of 3 hinges. This is due to the weight of the product, which can be attributed to the high grade materials used in the construction of the door. Choosing to ignore this requirement will void your warranty.

sue wicks Says:The item description was very accurate. We bought the door for our new kitchen to go from kitchen into a workroom which is why we used internal treatment and not external as we liked the appearance better. We are extreemely pleased with the finished product and it has fulfilled its purpose. The quality of the item is superb and every single person that has seen it has commented on how fabulous it looks. We plan on buying internal doors to match.
