You may be considering an internal fire door for additional safety in your home or to comply with Building Regulations Part B. Our fire rated doors look just as good as the non-fire doors we offer, and in many cases they can match our other internal engineered oak doors or are the same design as our solid oak doors. Whether you're looking for an interesting timber finish such as oak fire doors, our wide selection will provide you with the answer.
We supply an extensive range of fire doors including 1¾ thicknesses. Our doors are rated and certified FD30 (or 30 minute fire doors).
Our solid fire doors are engineered. Due to the rules of fire testing the material must be uniform and this cannot be guaranteed with Solid Oak Doors. If you are looking for a solid oak internal fire door we suggest that you speak to your building inspector as often when they realise that we do offer solid oak doors they will allow that, especially if they are coated with an intumescent treatment to help prevent them from burning. We are not experts in this field but it is worth considering.
With regards to treating a fire door it is the same princple as treating a normal engineered door. The product used to treat the fire doors cannot be water based.
In terms of altering the size of fire doors the fire rating certificate is based on the door as is, if adjustments are made it would be down to the discretion of the fire safety inspector as to whether or not the doors would pass inspection. All of our fire doors come with a minimum of 10 mm lipping around the sides of the door. In terms of our guarantee when altering the door, we advise that you remove no more that 6mm total from the door (3mm equally each side).
