Product Information

Solid Oak External Door 78 x 33" (1981 x 838mm)

Due to its versatility, our Cottage style External Solid Oak Door is ideal if you’re looking to add a contemporary or traditional look to your house or barn conversion, and is perfect for period, country or listed properties.  Crafted from 100% solid oak the intricate details of the wood are visible and will add real character to the exterior of your home. A diverse range of natural hues, colour shades and beautifully detailed knots not only showcase the natural beauty of the wood but also demonstrate its true quality.

Made from PEFC Certified Oak, the doors feature tongue and groove construction with V-Groove Profile, they’re handmade this way to prevent warping of the door over time.  We understand that security is also very important to consider when you’re looking to buy an external door, this product is not only rugged and sturdy, but thick enough for security locks.

As our external doors are made from real oak, it’s recommended that they are not used in exposed areas, particularly those areas exposed to direct sunlight or rainfall. We do however, supply an Oak Weatherbar to match the door, which will be required if the door will actually be open to such elements.

Please follow these treatment and maintenance instructions to preserve the beauty and strength of the wood.

External Doors are supplied unfinished. You will need to use a treatment suitable for external doors; we recommend the Impranol range for External doors; Click here For Impranol

We also supply an Oak Weatherbar to match the door, which will be required should the door be "open to the elements". Sold separately as not everyone will need one...ie if your door is situated within an enclosed porch. Click Here For Oak Weatherbars.

Our external doors must be treated before being hung, retreated every six months and kept dry at all times through the use of a canopy or similar. For full guidelines, please visit our External Door Protection Page.

Maintenance

Internal Wooden Product Finishing

Our products are supplied fit for purpose and unfinished (unless a pre finished / treated door has been ordered). As oak is a natural product, sanding, polishing and colouring maybe required to achieve the perfect finish. If you have not ordered a pre-finished/treated door then we recommend that quality hardwax oils such as Treatex or Osmo Oils are used to seal and protect the goods and to validate your warranty. All of our doors must be treated before they are hung, not afterwards. It is vitally important not to miss areas where the door has been cut for hinges or any other door furniture as this would allow for moisture to get into the door and spread throughout it.

Modern oil finishes are extremely durable and hardwearing, they are very simple to apply and fast drying. Once your appropriate finish has been applied, generally very little maintenance is required. It is always advisable to cover any scratches that may occur over time. The benefit of using hardwax oil is that this is a very simple process of re-applying the finish to the affected area with a cloth.

External Wooden Product Finishing

Our products are supplied fit for purpose and unfinished. As oak is a natural product, sanding, polishing and colouring maybe required to achieve the perfect finish. We recommend that quality specialist external treatment such as Impranol Oils are used to seal and protect the goods and that our external doors are protected from direct sunlight and rain by either a canopy or porch. All of our doors must be treated before they are hung, not afterwards. It is vitally important not to miss areas where the door has been cut for hinges or any other door furniture as this would allow for moisture to get into the door and spread throughout it. Please follow the guide here for finishing your external door, not doing this will void your warranty. By doing so you will also comply with our terms and conditions.

Storage - Flat and Dry Only

As wood is a natural product it is important that it is stored correctly. We recommend that your new products are stored flat and in a dry area. We recommend that all packaging is kept on the products, or removed for inspection and then re applied for storage. Again as wood is a natural product it is susceptible to changes in each room's atmosphere and as such please be mindful of this and take care to avoid damp areas or newly plastered rooms etc.

Installation

This door must be fitted with a minimum of 3 hinges. This is due to the weight of the product, which can be attributed to the high grade materials used in the construction of the door. Choosing to ignore this requirement will void your warranty.

Good Accurate description. Bought as a replacement for an old door. Looks really nice now it is hung. Quality for the price is quite good however there was some slight damaged due to a careless fork lift driver somewhere in the delivery chain. This was not noticed until the door was unpacked and it was too late to return it as the joiner was already on site
  6. Daniel Knight Says:

I bought a solid oak Cottage style front door from UK Oak Doors and have been delighted with it. Great looking door, solidly made and changes the whole appearance of the front of the house. UK Oak Doors has a good range of products, reasonably well priced, and offer a very efficient service. I would certainly order again from them !
