Solid Oak Ledge And Brace Rustic Bead And Butt Door
Our internal Ledge and Brace Doors are handcrafted using only the finest hand selected rustic graded white oak. These Oak ledged and braced doors will bring style and elegance into any home, whether you own a period property, barn conversion or even a cottage. Although the styling is traditional this solid oak door is extremely versatile and could be incorporated within a modern property. The Rustic grade American White Oak is more suitable for the older property, giving the rustic oak door a more traditional appearance.
Within the character grade solid oak some planks will contain a few small knots, while others may contain larger rustic knots which may require some filling by the end user if preferred. There will be open or dead knots within this grade, cracks, shakes or splits. If you would prefer to view something with less character in the door, then please consider our prime grade solid oak cottage doors such as the Solid Oak Ledge With Optional Braces or our Solid Oak Ledge And Brace Door.
These oak internal doors are manufactured to a standard 40mm thickness, this is made up on 20mm thick vertical panels and 20mm thick horizontal ledges. Each ledge and brace oak door comes in a standard 1981mm height and you have the option of 4 different rustic door widths, ranging from 610mm - 838mm. If a non-standard size is needed, it isn't a problem at all, we can pretty much cater for any bespoke solid oak door size you require. Just see our Made to Measure page for more information.
Our rustic oak ledge and brace doors are supplied pre-sanded and unfinished to provide you with the opportunity to give it your desired look that best matches the overall design of your house. If you prefer however, you can let us do the hard work for you through using our in-house oiling service and choosing the pre finished option where our expert team will oil your chosen internal cottage doors to perfection!
These solid wood internal doors are manufactured with specially kiln dried rustic oak that has a low moisture content of 6-10%. The individual solid rustic oak panels are finished in a Butt & Bead profile and nail holes are also visible within this door (of course, you can fill these in if you’d prefer).
Please note that all of our interior cottage doors are initially unfinished (unless otherwise stated) allowing you to choose a finish to your liking, the solid oak internal doors displayed on our website vary in appearance due to the different finishes being used by ourselves and customers alike, in addition to the natural qualities of the wood this will also contribute to this traditional oak door’s appearance. All hinges, handles, levers and door accessories are for illustration purposes only and sold separately. We cannot guarantee an exact match to images used across our interior oak door product imagery for the reasons stated above.
Wooden Product Finishing
Our products are supplied fit for purpose and unfinished (unless a pre finished / treated door has been ordered). As oak is a natural product, sanding, polishing and colouring maybe required to achieve the perfect finish. If you have not ordered a pre-finished/treated door then we recommend that quality hardwax oils such as Treatex or Osmo Oils are used to seal and protect the goods and to validate your warranty. All of our doors must be treated before they are hung, not afterwards. It is vitally important not to miss areas where the door has been cut for hinges or any other door furniture as this would allow for moisture to get into the door and spread throughout it.
Modern oil finishes are extremely durable and hardwearing, they are very simple to apply and fast drying. Once your appropriate finish has been applied, generally very little maintenance is required. It is always advisable to cover any scratches that may occur over time. The benefit of using hardwax oil is that this is a very simple process of re-applying the finish to the affected area with a cloth.
Storage - Flat and Dry Only
As wood is a natural product it is important that it is stored correctly. We recommend that your new products are stored flat and in a dry area. We recommend that all packaging is kept on the products, or removed for inspection and then re applied for storage. Again as wood is a natural product it is susceptible to changes in each room's atmosphere and as such please be mindful of this and take care to avoid damp areas or newly plastered rooms etc.
This door must be fitted with a minimum of 3 hinges. This is due to the weight of the product, which can be attributed to the high grade materials used in the construction of the door. Choosing to ignore this requirement will void your warranty.
