Our frame and ledge doors have a distinctive look – a plain front, with a frame and single ledge clearly visible from the back. This feature makes it easy to create a half glazed door – giving you a bright and airy room. Whether you would prefer a solid oak or half glazed door, you can buy a variety of widths from us – going from a small 2’ to a wider 3’ door. As with all our internal doors, they are 6’6” high to fit a standard door frame.
The frame and ledge is a traditional design, perfect for period properties that prefer a standard door to a latched cottage internal door. It can also be used in newer properties that want to add a rustic flavour.
Doors for Interior Designers
We think our oak frame and ledge Suffolk doors are excellent quality – and the experts agree! Interior designer Sian Astley – who you may recognise from ITV’s This Morning and Channel 4’s Property Ladder, among others – is a fan. When she designed “Rose Cottage” for a client, she chose our Suffolk doors, and both she and her client were delighted with the results. She enthused that the doors “feel about a zillion times more sturdy than the frame and ledge ones on offer in local diy stores.”
