Product Information

DX30 1930’s Unglazed Oak Veneer Door

A classic 1930’s style door which has been made using modern construction techniques making this engineered oak veneer internal door much more resistant to warping, twisting, and bowing than a reclaimed original 1930’s door. Made with FSC certified oak timber, and solid oak lipping which can be trimmed by 8mm on each side to ensure the perfect fit. Made in the classic 1930’s design with three elongated lower panels from the bottom to two thirds of the way up the door, with a single large panel at the top.

This door is intentionally left unglazed and supplied with beading so that you can add you own custom glazed window into the period door to make it truly unique. If you’re looking for this door that comes complete with a frosted glazed top panel then click here.

The door is fully sanded down ready to be finished with a suitable oil based internal door treatment prior to hanging, we recommend using Treatex products to finish your new doors which can be seen here.

This beautiful period oak internal door comes in 4 standard sizes all at 35mm thick in standard door widths (686mm, 762mm, 813mm or 838mm) and heights (1981mm or 2032mm)

Please note that all of our doors are initially unfinished (unless otherwise stated) allowing you to choose a finish to your liking, the doors displayed on our website vary in appearance due to the different finishes being used by ourselves and customers alike, in addition to the natural qualities of the wood this will also contribute to the door’s appearance. All hinges, handles, levers and door accessories are for illustration purposes only and sold separately. We cannot guarantee an exact match to images used across our door product imagery for the reasons stated above.

Glazing not included.

Maintenance

Wooden Product Finishing

Our products are supplied fit for purpose and unfinished (unless a pre-finished door has been ordered). As oak is a natural product, sanding and treating maybe required to achieve the perfect finish. If you have not ordered a pre-finished/treated door then we recommend that quality hardwax oils such as TreatexOsmo, or Sikkens Polyurethane Varnish are used to seal and protect the goods and to validate your warranty.

For doors to acclimatise, they should be left in the house prior to installation for at least seven days with the ambient temperature gradually increased over this period.

All of our doors must be treated before they are hung, not afterwards. It is vitally important not to miss areas where the door has been cut for hinges or any other door furniture as this would allow for moisture to get into the door and spread throughout it.

Applying a stain prior to treating is known to highlight the areas where glue may have spread to the face of the door during manufacturing, particulary where veneers meet. This cannot be claimed for under warranty. A clear, hardwax oil is what should be used. If you would like to apply a stain to a door to acheive a particular finish, we would recommend purchasing a solid oak door instead.

Modern oil finishes are extremely durable and hardwearing, they are very simple to apply and fast drying. Once your appropriate finish has been applied, generally very little maintenance is required. It is always advisable to cover any scratches that may occur over time. The benefit of using hardwax oil is that this is a very simple process of re-applying the finish to the affected area with a cloth.

If you do decide to paint an unfinished oak veneer door then to comply with the door's warranty it must have an undercoat/primer and top coat which is solvent based, not water based.

Storage - Flat and Dry Only

As wood is a natural product it is important that it is stored correctly. We recommend that your new products are stored flat and in a dry area. We recommend that all packaging is kept on the products, or removed for inspection and then re applied for storage. Again as wood is a natural product it is susceptible to changes in each room's atmosphere and as such please be mindful of this and take care to avoid damp areas or newly plastered rooms etc.

Installation

This door must be fitted with a minimum of 3 hinges. This is due to the weight of the product, which can be attributed to the high grade materials used in the construction of the door. Choosing to ignore this requirement will void your warranty.
