Our striking Variante Sparta hardwood oak flooring is a great example of the variety of finishes available in this collection of Rustic Grade flooring. As per usual with rustic oak flooring, you can expect plenty of those classic oak wood features, such as large knots, splits and cracks in the oak, adding to the character of the product. This oak flooring is brushed, which means these character features are actually accentuated even more, and they can be more visible when the reactive stain is applied. This stain is a mellow reactive type, meaning that the stain actually contains no pigment, but areas of the wood such as the knots and splits will pick up this reaction and change colour. This type of oak flooring is excellent for a huge range of homes, perfectly adapting to any decor, whether it be contemporary apartments, or traditional victorian homes.
Finished with a sunken filler, this oak wood flooring will offer your home the classic characteristics of oak, whilst maintaining the strength and stability you’d expect from an oak product. The filler allows the majority of the cracks to be filled without completely covering them up. This high quality engineered flooring is constructed of three solid core layers, bonded together for strength and then topped with the 3.2mm wear layer of solid rustic grade oak. This construction method is incredibly strong and durable, so you will enjoy years of use from your hardwood flooring, with the option to sand out marks and scuffs before hitting any of the internal construction layers, you can sand and re-treat this product multiple times over. Available in the size W190mm x L2450mm x D14mm, this product also features a micro bevel edge along all four edges of the floorboards, this means that when the floor is laid, the individual planks are visible and clear. This oak flooring also features the fool-proof tongue and groove fixings, so you can easily assemble the flooring, as well as gaining the strength that this fixing method brings.
Storage - Flat and Dry Only
As wood is a natural product it is important that it is stored correctly. We recommend that your new products are stored flat and in a dry area. We recommend that all packaging is kept on the products, or removed for inspection and then re applied for storage. Again as wood is a natural product it is susceptible to changes in each room's atmosphere and as such please be mindful of this and take care to avoid damp areas or newly plastered rooms etc.
Flooring Maintenance - Care Guide
You'll know when your wood floor needs cleaning, as the dust and dirt is visible (unlike carpeting that hides its dirt below the surface) a simple vacuum, sweep or dry mop is all that’s needed to clean day-to-day dust and loose dirt.
Dirt and grit act like sandpaper on the surface of a wood floor. As 80% of dirt comes from outside, place sturdy doormats and rugs at entry points and use furniture pads under chair legs and heavy furniture.
Consider a ‘no-high-heels’ policy and be aware of pets’ bad habits and scratching. Never place potted plants directly on a wood floor. For a thorough and regular (every couple of months) ‘refresher’ clean, use a recommended after-care cleaning/maintenance product and you’ll bring a new lease of life to your floor. Check out our 'After-Care' section for more help!
