This Amalfi Prefinished Oak Fire Door brings the tranquillity of the Italian Amalfi coast to your home or office, whilst additionally ensuring protection against fire. The sleek intertwining deep grooves of this contemporary flush door take inspiration from the waves of the Mediterranean Sea and offer a touch of serenity in the design of a modern home. The simplistic design of this internal fire door allows the product to withstand the test of time, remaining a constant feature of the home, even through any future redecorations.
With its FD30 rating, our Amalfi flush internal door is guaranteed to withstand a burn time of at least of 30 minutes, providing assurance of safety, in the unlikely event of a fire. Available in four standard sizes (as well as a custom sizing option), all featuring an extra broad 44mm thickness, as well as a 15mm trim allowance on each side of the wood door’s solid core.
This prefinished open-grain contemporary fire door is produced from FSC certified American White Oak, so you can rest assured that you are purchasing your modern internal door from a responsible supply chain. This type of door is available as a standard prefinished oak door as well as a prefinished oak glazed door, all three of which come with a huge 10-year guarantee from the manufacturer.
Wooden Product Finishing
Our products are supplied fit for purpose and unfinished (unless a pre-finished door has been ordered). As oak is a natural product, sanding and treating maybe required to achieve the perfect finish. If you have not ordered a pre-finished/treated door then we recommend that quality hardwax oils such as Treatex, Osmo, or Sikkens Polyurethane Varnish are used to seal and protect the goods and to validate your warranty.
For doors to acclimatise, they should be left in the house prior to installation for at least seven days with the ambient temperature gradually increased over this period.
All of our doors must be treated before they are hung, not afterwards. It is vitally important not to miss areas where the door has been cut for hinges or any other door furniture as this would allow for moisture to get into the door and spread throughout it.
Applying a stain prior to treating is known to highlight the areas where glue may have spread to the face of the door during manufacturing, particulary where veneers meet. This cannot be claimed for under warranty. A clear, hardwax oil is what should be used. If you would like to apply a stain to a door to acheive a particular finish, we would recommend purchasing a solid oak door instead.
Modern oil finishes are extremely durable and hardwearing, they are very simple to apply and fast drying. Once your appropriate finish has been applied, generally very little maintenance is required. It is always advisable to cover any scratches that may occur over time. The benefit of using hardwax oil is that this is a very simple process of re-applying the finish to the affected area with a cloth.
If you do decide to paint an unfinished oak veneer door then to comply with the door's warranty it must have an undercoat/primer and top coat which is solvent based, not water based.
Storage - Flat and Dry Only
As wood is a natural product it is important that it is stored correctly. We recommend that your new products are stored flat and in a dry area. We recommend that all packaging is kept on the products, or removed for inspection and then re applied for storage. Again as wood is a natural product it is susceptible to changes in each room's atmosphere and as such please be mindful of this and take care to avoid damp areas or newly plastered rooms etc.
Installation
This door must be fitted with a minimum of 3 hinges. This is due to the weight of the product, which can be attributed to the high grade materials used in the construction of the door. Choosing to ignore this requirement will void your warranty.
Fire Doors
As the door is there for the purpose of safety you should check it regularly to make sure that it still opens and closes properly.
The gaps between the door frame and the door itself should be checked on a regular basis. If you have fitted a fire door to comply with building regulations, it is extremely important that these gaps do not increase in size to the point where they surpass the allowed maximum. Although this is rare, it can sometimes occur on a new home where the house is still settling and the various pressures on the door frame cause it to alter slightly.
Other than regularly checking gaps we advise people to cover up scratches with treatment so that the door is always protected. By using a hardwax oil, any scratches can quickly and easily be covered up.

For Standard deliveries, you will receive contact from the courier prior to delivery. For Express deliveries, you will not receive contact from the courier, with the aim to avoid delays in the Express delivery.
If you have chosen additional options for your items such as prefinishing, please allow up to an additional 10 working days for delivery. This will depend on the number of in-house oiling requests and the chosen finish which will affect the number of coats and required drying time.
Generally delivery is a weekday service. Couriers may however operate on weekends during busy periods. As such, we are unable to offer weekend deliveries, but this may be offered by the courier if they call to arrange your delivery date and time. Please note that your delivery will be made to the kerbside. As such, please ensure you can move your order to a secure location.
All delivery times given are based on orders being placed before 12-midday and the lead times are from once your order has been dispatched, not placed.
As unforeseen circumstances can, on the rare occasion, cause delivery issues, we do not recommend booking any tradesmen until your items have been delivered.
Flooring Delivery
Delivery is typically 7-10 days from order date. Your flooring will normally come on a pallet and be shipped using a kerbside delivery. We will call you before delivery to agree a date that suits as someone will need to be available to help offload. Please remember that our solid oak flooring is particularly thick and therefore very heavy. 65m2 will weigh approximately 1 tonne/1000kg.
