Victorian 4 Panel Veneer Oak Fire Door

This Victorian 4 Panel Veneer Oak Fire Door is not only practical but extremely stylish. Finished with a white oak veneer this door features 4 distinctive panels that contribute to the overall sleek and minimal design. The finish gives it a reclaimed and elegant style that would feature beautifully alongside other internal oak doors, particularly from our Victorian range. You can view these here.

This rigorously tested product is rated FD30 which means it can withstand fire for a minimum of 30 minutes, making it particularly ideal for use as a kitchen door.

Due to the rules of fire testing, the material must be uniform, and as this cannot be guaranteed with solid oak wood doors, we opt to engineer our doors with veneer as opposed to 100% solid oak. This Victorian fire door is supplied unfinished ready for final finishing at home.

Maintenance

Fire Doors

As our fire doors are supplied to you pre-sanded and ready to be finished, you have the opportunity to treat them before fitting. Once your fire door has been treated and fitted, the on-going maintenance will be minimal. As the door is there for the purpose of safety you should check it regularly to make sure that it still opens and closes properly.

The gaps between the door frame and the door itself should be checked on a regular basis. If you have fitted a fire door to comply with building regulations, it is extremely important that these gaps do not increase in size to the point where they surpass the allowed maximum. Although this is rare, it can sometimes occur on a new home where the house is still settling and the various pressures on the door frame cause it to alter slightly.

Other than regularly checking gaps we advise people to cover up scratches with treatment so that the door is always protected. By using a hardwax oil, any scratches can quickly and easily be covered up.

Storage - Flat and Dry Only

As wood is a natural product it is important that it is stored correctly. We recommend that your new products are stored flat and in a dry area. We recommend that all packaging is kept on the products, or removed for inspection and then re applied for storage. Again as wood is a natural product it is susceptible to changes in each room's atmosphere and as such please be mindful of this and take care to avoid damp areas or newly plastered rooms etc.

Wooden Product Finishing

Our products are supplied fit for purpose and unfinished (unless a pre finished / treated door has been ordered). As oak is a natural product, sanding, polishing and colouring maybe required to achieve the perfect finish. If you have not ordered a pre-finished/treated door then we recommend that quality hardwax oils such as Treatex or Osmo Oils are used to seal and protect the goods and to validate your warranty.

Modern oil finishes are extremely durable and hardwearing, they are very simple to apply and fast drying. Once your appropriate finish has been applied, generally very little maintenance is required. It is always advisable to cover any scratches that may occur over time. The benefit of using hardwax oil is that this is a very simple process of re-applying the finish to the affected area with a cloth.
