What do we mean by Solid Oak?
We carry alot of stock to make sure orders can be delivered as soAs much as we’d like to use one whole lump of oak for one door this would be extremely expensive for the customer and even more costly to the environment. The number of trees to door ratio would be excessive and the finished product would be prone to movement too. So what are the alternatives? Well, you can use cheap materials for the core (ie particle board) of the door structure then stick on a wood veneer, that practice is widespread across other internet suppliers (also known as engineered doors). It’s cheap but not very cheerful. This is like eating a hamburger with dog food stuck between two buns, from a distance it looks fine but it’s not going to fool anyone for very long.
The other option is to construct the door from separate boards of solid oak. We choose to use three boards for the best mix of strength and resistance to warping. We have tried two and four boards but for the majority of doors the best mix for long term stability and warp resistance is three. This maximises the long term life of the door whilst ensuring what you see is what you get – 100% solid oak using mortice and tenon joints with no composite or honeycomb core and no veneer.

Which Items are in Stock?
We carry alot of stock to make sure orders can be delivered as soon as possibly. If an item is not in stock we do recommend that you order it as we will have more of any product arriving generally in 4-6 Weeks so the delay is never to long in any case. You can check if an item is in stock on the page right next to the 'ADD TO CART' Button, this is a live stock status and is updated every 5 minutes.
What Payments do you accept?
We accept most major credit and debit cards, however due to increasing transaction charges we have now levied a 3% surcharge to pay by Credit Card. Debit Cards are still free to use. We will also accept cheques if this suits you better. It is always much safer to order items yourself online, if you wish to place a phone order you will need to display the card that was use for the purchase to the delivery driver. They will not deliver any goods ordered over the phone without this. We have this policy due to an increasing amount of fraud.
What is the procedure after I place an order?
You will automatically have an email sent to you confirming you order has been placed, after this you will receive an email from us confirming the your products are in stock at the couriers warehouse. This second email is also notification to them to process this order. They will then begin to process your order and will normally contact you within about 10 days to arrange delivery.
What should I do after I receive my order?
It is a best practice to let wood acclimatize to your home environment, to do this doors should be finished within 2 days of being removed from their packaging to avoid raw wood soaking up moisture from the atmosphere, creating movement moving.
We recommend using Treatex Hardwax Oil for internal doors and Impranol 'Elan and Lasur' for external doors, the reason is that we have tested many finishes and found these to provide the best protection from moisture.
Doors should be stored flat at all times, above the ground and supported across the width in at least 3 places. (pallets are perfect as long as they are level)
Are you VAT registered / Can you please send a VAT receipt?
Yes we are a fully UK registered company who pay VAT. As soon as an order is placed you will automatically be sent a PDF VAT invoice to the email address you have registered with us. If you have not received this please first check your junk email folder, if it is not there you can alternatively log on to your Account and retrieve a copy of your invoice.
Can you make custom sizes or products?
Unfortunately it is not possible for us to make custom sizes.
However all our standard size doors may be cut down to the size smaller ie. a 2 ft. 6 door may be cut all the way down to a 2 ft. 3 door. The height may also have a lot more cut off this, about 8" top and bottom.
Can I pay a deposit, and pay the rest once I receive the goods?
In most cases we will have your items in stock and items must be paid for in full before delivery. The only cases where we accept deposits is if there is a large order that is not in stock and will be an exceptionally long time to manufacture.
How safe is it to use Card Payments Online?
We use Secpay to process all our payments, they are UK's largest internet payment provider and have their site scanned regularly against hackers.
What happens if I cancel an order?
You have a legal right to cancel within seven working days beginning on the day of receiving your goods, at which point a return for the products on the order would need to be arranged. Once we have received them and had time check their condition we can offer you a refund, however you will be asked to pay for carriage which can be more than you were charged as some areas the cost of delivery is subsidized by us. If an item is specially made or on backorder we are unable to offer any refund unless we already have another customer who may take them from you.
