Butterflies are wonderful creatures: beautiful to look at and very important for the pollination of plants and flowers. Building a butterfly house gives butterflies the perfect place to hibernate, and may even encourage them to your garden during the summer months.
Even if the butterflies choose not to use them, butterfly houses are great accessory and addition to your garden.

When you’ve built your butterfly house:
- Put it in your garden in a location where it will see plenty of sun, but is covered from wind
- Place it 4-6 feet above ground level, either in a tree or on a pole
- If possible, position the butterfly house near lots of flowers
