Antique Oak Reproduction Cottage Door 2'3" (686mm)
Oak Antique Reproduction Doors, ideal to add a truly rustic and traditional look to your house, cottage or barn conversion. These doors are absolutely stunning and are perfectly suited to period or listed properties. Knots and shakes are deliberately left open to be filled in during the final finish using wax for an authentic look and feel.
Made from PEFC Certified European oak, the doors feature tongue and groove construction with V-Groove profile to help prevent warping of the door over time. The reproduction antique oak door is made with large random width vertical planks (rather than 3 evenly sized planks) and 3 large horizontal 'ledges'. Please note these boards can vary greatly from piece to piece with a single board sometimes up to 1/2 the width of the door, just as they were made a very long time ago. They will not all be 'evenish' boards as shown in the photos.
Each antique reproduction door has approximately a 10mm gap on either side between the edge of the ledges and the edge of the door. The gap between the top to the first ledge is approximately 8". With the first screws being at 25mm in, the design of the doors allows you to trim the doors by approximately 35mm from each side, These doors may be hung using with either traditional T-Hinges or modern door hinges.
All of our solid oak internal doors are supplied untreated so that you can choose your favourite Oil or Wax Finish. However the Antique Reproduction doors are supplied 'Aged' but unfinished. All you will need to do is finish with wax or oil, or apply stain if you would like the doors to be darker. We recommend 1-2 coats of Treatex Dark Hardwax oil followed by 1-2 coats of Treatex Clear Matt Hardwax oil to get the same finish as above, these doors are not really suitable for a natural finish.

Maintainence:

Storage: As wood is a natural product it is important that it is stored correctly. We recommend that your new products are stored flat and in a dry area. We recommend that all packaging is kept on the products, or removed for inspection and then re applied for storage. Again as wood is a natural product it is susceptible to changes in each room's atmosphere and as such please be mindful of this and take care to avoid damp areas or newly plastered rooms etc.
Finishing: For any or Solid wood products such as doors, skirting and architrave we recommend a quality hardwax oil such as Treatex. As these products are handmade sometimes a small amount of sanding may be required to get your individual perfect finish. Modern Oil finishes are amazingly durable and hardwearing. They are very simply to apply and relatively quick to dry. Once your chosen finish has been applied generally very little maintence is required, it is always adviseable to cover any scratches that may be picked up over the years, luckily if you have used a hardwax oil this is a very simple process of re applying the finish with a cloth to the affected area, it is very simple.
